Julius Horsthuis combines fractals with cinematic principles of film and animation. What fascinates Julius about fractals is that they show us how to make something that looks infinitely complex, from very simple beginnings. He is fascinated by realizing how little we really can understand about the universe. If such bizarre and complex structures can emerge from something jotted down on a post-it, what can that tell us about the seemingly infinite complexity found in nature? Is it all an illusion?
