The painterly style, the austerity and presence of simple complexity, that defines traditional Zen black ink painting inspires the vocabulary of this work. In addition, there is a reference to fractal patterns generated that have an uncanny resemblance to the iconography of ancient cultures and petroglyphic diagrams found around the world. In that sense, Nazka Mist is animated visualisation of interaction between the austere and the complex, the structures that appear and disappear into the mystery of mist – an ethereal space that resonates together as in the duality of silence and sound as forms change.
